HON'BLE. SECRETARY

Joydeep-Mukherjee

As the Secretary of the Indian Football Association (IFA), my tenure has been characterized by an unwavering commitment to the advancement of football and the fortification of our esteemed organization. In the face of challenges posed by the global pandemic and the constraints associated with assuming office belatedly, our primary objective was to fulfil all footballing commitments on the IFA calendar. Our overarching goal was to create more opportunities for players and instil transparency in the operational framework of our organization.

Upon assuming office, our foremost priority was addressing financial discrepancies. We rectified of accounts to generate the correct financial possibilities of the Association to its stakeholders and corrected the books. Despite time constraints, we actively sought sponsorships for the Calcutta Football League, addressed outstanding debts, and rectified the undervaluation of the IFA building. These actions underscore our commitment to financial stability. Regarding the I-League, we acknowledged concerns raised by the AIFF regarding expenses and delayed payments. Our focus remains forward-looking, and we are dedicated to fostering transparency through clean and audited accounts for all IFA-affiliated clubs.

With a steadfast vision and commitment, the IFA successfully organized a series of events during the 2022-23 period. Allow me to enumerate them for your consideration:

Friends, I respectfully implore your unwavering support as we embark upon the establishment of an enhanced democratic framework for football in West Bengal. Our vision extends beyond the mere empowerment of the state's football community; it aspires to facilitate a more profound and meaningful contribution to the sport, coupled with an earnest commitment to instil greater transparency in its administration. I ardently believe that transparency stands as an imperative virtue for all of us. I assure you that the narrative control in Bengal football is not the exclusive domain of any individual or organization; rather, it encapsulates our collective dreams and shared objectives. The unity of purpose we collectively contribute to must never be misconstrued or permitted to veer off course.

In concluding my inaugural address as the Hony. Secretary of the Indian Football Association (IFA), I wish to express gratitude to those whose support and guidance have illuminated our path to progress. We are profoundly appreciative of the Government of West Bengal and the All-India Football Federation for their steadfast support and selfless contributions to our shared cause. To propel Bengal football to greater heights, we remain committed to seeking their cooperation and fostering close collaboration in the future.

My heartfelt thanks extend to our sponsors, the media, the police, and, notably, to the Ministry of Sports, West Bengal, and the Kolkata Municipal Corporation. Lastly, but by no means least, I extend my sincere appreciation to all our affiliated members, friends, well-wishers, and every employee of IFA. Without their timeless cooperation, the very essence of our beloved 'Maidan' would have been rendered devoid of significance.

As I draw the curtains on my address, I am reminded of a quote by Henry Ford: "If everyone is moving forward together, success takes care of itself." I earnestly seek that spirit of togetherness from each and every one of you.
